We love to watch birds from our windows. The feeders are really the "cat entertainment center"... we've seen lots of common (and a few rare birds):
Most common is the egrets, both Great Egret - we've seen upwards of 60 at once during migration - Snowy Egret (smaller), Cattle Egrets and of course the Great Blue Heron.
| We're also landlords to Purple Martins - '99's "crop" was over 50 babies, '00 looks over 60... stablizing around 50 for the succeeding years. | ![]() |
| And of course there are the Lewisville Lake geese. And - if pressed - they really can fly (most of them)... | ![]() |
We've also seen Ducks (including a rare Mexican Black Duck that spent summer '99 at the pond), Coots, Kildeer, Red Wing Black Birds, Finchs, Blue Jays, Cardinals and Mockingbirds (Delilah's "Mr. Kek"). On the rare side, the American Kestrel has passed through in every year... And the Bar Headed Goose (Anser Indicus who obviously escaped from some exotic wildlife center).
